At Scala, Traditional chestnuts festival – 2019

Double weekend of events in Scala, a town on the Amalfi Coast, on the occasion of the 44th edition of the “Chestnut Festival”, the event scheduled for Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 and Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October 2019.
During the event there is also the “Palio delle Contrade”, a tournament that sees the six districts of La Scala challenge each other in the ancient popular games.
The most awaited moment is undoubtedly the race of the donkeys that, mounted by “jockeys” without a saddle, will compete on the course of the city center.
The characteristic kiosks, set up in Piazza Municipio, will offer roast chestnuts, chestnuts of the priest, chestnut cakes, castagnaccio, chestnut jams and much more, added to the numerous visitors, the possibility of tasting typical dishes of the local cuisine, expertly prepared by housewives scalesi and by the many volunteers who are already at work for the realization of this great party.
